The Dance Studio – Covid-19 - Return to Class Policy
PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND CLASS IF YOU HAVE ANY SYMPTOMS OF COVID-19 OR HAVE BEEN TOLD TO SELF ISOLATE.
We will be implementing several measures to enhance the safety of students, teachers, staff, and parents when returning to classes with The Dance Studio – Please read them carefully:
Drop-off/Pick-up points
Where possible we will be using a separate drop-off and collection points. There will be differences between our venues so please pay attention to signs when arriving.
We will be uploading maps for the venues with changes to drop-off/pick-ups to our website before the start of term which will help to guide you to the correct places – if a different family member/guardian is bringing your child that day please provide them with the correct information for that venue.
Waiting/Changing Area
There will be NO waiting or changing area at any venue.
Toilets will be available for the students during class times as usual. We will not be permitting entry to parents/carers so please do not ask. If your child has a medical condition where they need assistance, we need the information to be emailed in advance along with a GP’s letter.
Uniform/Outdoor Coats/Shoes
Please ensure students arrive in their uniform. Shoes can be changed once inside, supervised by the teacher/assistants.
ALL BELONGINGS MUST BE LABELLED.
As the weather starts to change, please make sure your child has a clearly named bag to place their outdoor coat and shoes in when they arrive. Particularly for younger children, please make sure they are easy slip-on/Velcro shoes/trainers that they can put on themselves to reduce contact and speed up exit times.
Dance bags will still be permitted for those children who bring character shoes/skirts and who do multiple class back to back with a change of shoes.
Modern & Acro are usually in bare feet – during this time ballet/modern shoes are permitted.
Please wash uniform between uses – the recommendation is to wash at 60 degrees to remove any bacteria.
Barres/Mats/Touch Points
Barre use will be kept to a minimum. When they are used, they will be sanitised between classes or groups using the barre.
Acro Mats will be cleaned and sanitised between each use. You are welcome to bring your own exercise mat if you prefer and the teacher will adapt the exercises that can be safely executed without the full thickness mats.
All touch points will be sanitised between classes.
Class times/Arriving to class
We have staggered start times wherever possible to reduce the volume of people arriving at the same time.
Please do not arrive more than 5 minutes prior to the class start time. On arrival please queue at the entrance allowing for social distancing and wait to be granted entry by a member of our team.
We have added gaps between classes where possible. Please note if no gap is shown that we have coordinated the exit of the group/registration of the next group to be done by a member of staff.
If students are moving between classes back to back or max 15 min break the students will still be moved between classes by our teachers/assistants as we did previously.
In Class
Sanitising hands – at the start of each class all students will be required to sanitise their hands before starting class; this will be done on entering the class by the teachers/helpers. You, and again if they visit the toilets. If your child has any allergies we should be aware of please inform us by emailing: [email protected] before the start of term.
We are limiting class numbers to ensure spacing and distancing can be adhered to.

Travelling exercises will be managed to eliminate contact.
Ventilation – where possible doors/windows will be opened to allow for additional air flow in the studios/halls.
